Resolute Treatment Facility: Secure Residential Program
The Resolute secure residential program is a 76-bed specialized treatment facility for adolescent males between the ages of 11-18 who have a history of demonstrating sexually maladaptive behaviors in addition to the other emotional and behavioral impairments. Treatment is designed based on individual need, using a multidisciplinary team approach consisting of child’s family, physicians, therapists, nurses, teachers, and the youth care specialists . Treatment aspects such as: Development of healthy coping, appropriate relationships, moral development, personal and social responsibility, and self-understanding are emphasized.
Special attention is given to family involvement and every effort is made to ensure regular family contact and communication as well as rapid achievement of community or home passes to begin practicing and implementing learned treatment concepts and skills. We believe that a strong family support system greatly enhances each child’s success and prognosis. Families are encouraged to be part of the treatment team and assist in guiding the care for their child. Diagnostic & Evaluation Program
Resolute offers a Diagnostic and Evaluation (D&E) Program for adolescent males, ages 11-18. Residents admitted into this program undergo a residential-based intensive evaluation period to help determine the level of treatment and care necessary for that individual. The typical length of the D&E Program is 45 days. At the end of the 45 day period, a case conference will be held to determine the level of care necessary for the individual and his family. In addition to a comprehensive and thorough evaluation, the D&E provides an opportunity for youth to begin the crucial first steps of treatment in a safe and structured environment while safety measures are implemented in the home.
The D&E Program may be appropriate if one or more of the following is present: the child has complex treatment needs, the propensity of the child’s sexual history remains in question, the youth lives within close proximity to the victim, and/or questions exist regarding the safety of the home environment.
Placement for the 45-day assessment is an ideal option when community safety and family concerns need to be addressed immediately and concurrently with the start of treatment for a child who struggles with sexually maladaptive behaviors.
Each participant in the D&E Program will undergo the following:
Ø Comprehensive Psychosexual Assessment
Ø Psychological Testing
Ø Clinical Polygraph
Ø Milieu Therapy/Evaluation
Ø Individual and Family Therapy
Ø Daily Process Groups
Ø On-Site Educational Services

Community Based Services: Intensive Home-Based Programming
Community Based Services offer treatment in the least restrictive setting to youth with sexually maladaptive behaviors and other emotional and behavioral impairments. The family component is key in the delivery of services as emphasis is placed on the entire family as part of the treatment process. It is designed to meet the needs of the entire family by focusing on the unique strengths inherent in each family unit and accentuating those strengths with supports from the community in a broader multisystemic context.
The program is based in best practices and draws upon four areas of research and treatment. Those areas are:
- Family therapy with serious juvenile offenders, sexually maladaptive youth, and families with multiple problems;
- Supervision based on family therapy and community programs of sexually maladaptive youth and juvenile delinquent youth;
- Cognitive behavior therapy of sexually maladaptive youth;
- The “What Works” literature concerning delinquent youth.
The program is designed for low-moderate risk youth who have had no prior treatment or moderate-high risk youth who are coming out of residential programming. Services are available for males and females ages 8-18, though children outside of this age-range may be accepted on a conditional basis. The program is offered on a 2-tier treatment system, determined by risk level and need for service: Community Integration Program (CIP) and Intensive Community Integration Program (ICIP).
Community Integration Program (CIP):
This is the lowest level of care within our service continuum and is designed for children and adolescents who have been identified as low-moderate risk for continued acting out. For youth who are entering this program as a step down from Intensive Community Integration Program, focus is placed on resolution and forward movement regarding identified treatment issues.
Intensive Community Integration Program:
This is the highest level of service delivery offered in our Community Based Services. Many of these clients will be moderate to high risk sexually maladaptive adolescents who are transitioning into the community from a more structured level of care. These adolescents will work toward mastery of coping skills and strategies learned in residential treatment.
Community Integration Program services include:
Ø 2-5 face-to-face contacts per week
Ø 24-hour on call availability
Ø Home-based individual and family therapy
Ø Victim Therapy
Ø Clarification Sessions
Ø Case Management Services
Ø Clinical Polygraph
Ø Safety/Prevention Planning
Ø Collaboration with school systems
Assessment and Consultation
Resolute provides comprehensive psychosexual evaluations and risk assessments, for male and female children and adolescents. The assessments help to determine the dynamics of the sexualized behaviors, level of risk, and most appropriate treatment needs. Evaluations may take place at the Resolute main campus, in the office of the referring agent or at the home of the child being evaluated. They typically last between 2-4 hours and involve both the child and the primary caregiver(s).
The testing battery for each child differs and is based on both need and relevance. A multitude of instruments are used to assess risk of reoffense, intellectual functioning, executive functioning, criminality, coping patterns, family dynamics and diagnostics.
Prior to scheduling the evaluation, the following documentation will be requested:
Ø Police Reports
Ø Predisposition Report/Preliminary Inquiry
Ø Probable Cause Summary
Ø 310/311 Reports
Ø Victim Impact Statements
Ø Previous Evaluations/Assessment Reports
Ø Discharge Summaries from previous treatment providers
