Carina Group Home

Population Served:

Carina Group Home is a staff secure group home specializing in residential treatment for males between the ages of 12-21 who have successfully completed primary treatment for sexually maladaptive behaviors. Generally, the youth will have an IQ score of over 70 and be eligible for GED, public schooling, or college level classes. Within a general community setting, the risk level for reoccurring sexually maladaptive behaviors is low to moderate. The program provides a strong focus on the development of independent living skills while the youth work toward the transition into adulthood.

Educational services for the Carina Group Home are provided by various community schools. For most students, this is through the Indianapolis Public School District or community colleges. Assistance in preparing for the General Educational Development (GED) exam is also available to residents. Carina Group Home will implement creative programming activities to drive treatment processes with the primary focus on developing independent living skills.

Program Milieu:

The therapeutic milieu at the Carina Group Home will ensure that the residents’ physical, emotional and behavioral needs are met at all times. We recognize that when dealing with youth in a group home setting, issues will arise that warrant a clear and consistent response. Management for the group home guarantees that all staff – regardless the level of professional qualification – are adequately and effectively trained on the implementation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and have a complete understanding of milieu management, concepts, and presence to establish positive outcomes for this population of males.
